This book is based on the 240 days over 7 trips the author has spent in the habitat of the Copiapoa since the first book was published, and describes all species by reference to their distribution over six habitat areas. Their total environment is considered, and there is also a section of some of the other plants they grow with. The plants are shown as they really are, not just “show specimens”, and there is a fascinating section with some comparative photographs of specific plants showing the changes over the years. The nomenclature followed is geared towards the needs of collectors and growers, to allow identification of differing forms of interest to the grower, and is cross referenced to the names in the New Cactus Lexicon. Cultivation is only covered by a section of pictures from the collections of some noted growers. Very well illustrated with numerous good colour photos. 2006 11 ¼ x 8 ½ 240 pages.
